Long-ass time since I've put anything here. This is a piece that I started as a sketch a whiiile back. Abandoned, I decided to see if I could rekindle my interest in it. I'm having some fun with it, so if I keep going maybe I can submit it in time for spectrum. Hopefully I'll be a good boy and post wips. So far:
An update, hooray! This is awesome, Piero! Lookin' forward to seeing it finished (and in spectrum!)
ReplyDeleteSince you're in the sketch phase, I figured I'd note one thing-- if the bottom guy's sword crossed over his leg & pointed up instead of down, I think it'd help complete the compositional circle you've already got going. Just an idea, though! Post those wips! :)
Thanks Kali! It's funny - I actually had him like that and then I changed him to look more defeated, so this is actually an awkward in-between. I'm still debating which pose is better. One emphasizes his defeat, he other gives him more movement. Hmm... let's see where it goes.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kali, Hooray for an update.
ReplyDeleteJust a thought, what if the sword had been knocked out of his hands and its blade was in the ground handle up? Maybe super close to the viewer? Maybe not?
Great start in any case.
Thanks Adam. I have been moving it around and it is hard to nail the right place, argh! Anyhow, let's see if I even finish this on time...

ReplyDeleteAwesome concept so far...I think a glint of the moonlight on the poor chap's sword would sell the suspense here (he's not down yet!)
As always, love the painterly/inky quality here...
